What is an e-portfolio?

An e-portfolio is a collection of work that demonstrates what an individual has done or learned over a period of time.  Each student's e-portfolio will contain:

As students develop and select examples over a period of time, the e-portfolio will demonstrate or document  progress in the various areas.

GateWay Faculty can design assignments around any one of the areas so that their students can use those assignments to demonstrate their skills.  The portfolio is also a way for faculty to store and document what students are learning in their classes, and it can show student academic achievement if there is a pre-post assignment or a class e-portfolio.

Student academic achievement can also be assessed if a student posts several assignments in a particular area over a period of time.  Eventually, as more and more faculty and students use the e-portfolio, we will have a better idea about which areas are or aren't being addressed across the curriculum.
