Computing

The use of computers has influenced the economy, careers, and culture of America. It is unusual to go about our daily lives without encountering computers in our stores, offices, schools, and even in our leisure activities. To work effectively today, our students need the ability to work with computers and a commitment to life-long learning to continue to be knowledgeable as technology changes. It is important for community college students to clearly understand that being computer literate is no longer an option, but it is a personal and professional necessity.

As new computer technology is created or updated, the definition of computer literacy itself continually changes and expands. Computer literacy could be defined as using the computer as a tool to access and disseminate information, as well as to communicate. This definition includes using a computer to solve problems, make decisions, and manage information.

You should post your best examples from any class that demonstrates your ability to do various tasks, such as trouble-shoot problems, use telecommunications, and organize and manipulate files; you should also demonstrate your knowledge about legal and ethical computer issues.
