In the summer of 1998, I had the unique opportunity to be a Maricopa Community Colleges faculty fellow to Costa Rica, representing my home school, GateWay Community College. In this website, I have endeavored to share some of my experiences there with my students and other interested persons in the form of original photos, a poem I wrote to celebrate the rainforest experience, and a brief quiz for some basic Spanish practice. Costa Rica is a small country which is amazingly rich in terms of geography, flora and fauna. These images are not intended to even begin to represent the diversity to be found in Costa Rica, but to celebrate the beauty discovered there, principally in the areas of San José, Cartago, Turrialba, Puntarenas, Puerto Limón and Tortuguero. A warm muchísimas gracias to all my new friends in Costa Rica, especially at the University of Costa Rica in San José, and to my very gracious host family. These images are the property of GateWay Community College and Gail F. Shay and may not be included in any commercial publications (printed or online) without written permission. You are welcome to retrieve and save these images for educational purposes after sending a message to Gail Shay
